Q: What is your current position at Air Waves?
OM: I am currently an account manager and head of the Zulily kids team at Air Waves. I actually started as an intern here during my senior year at OSU in 2017, then was hired on as a full-time merchandiser in 2018.
Q: Please describe an example day for you at Air Waves:
OM: Our days vary from day to day, which keeps it interesting. Generally, I’ll start by checking calendars to get an idea of how to divvy up my time. Much of the morning is spent approving inventory. Then we get to the creative bulk: curating e-commerce merchandise, trendspotting, and coming up with fun new ideas for graphics!
Q: Which pillar of Air Waves is your favorite and why?
OM: Our pillar “Innovate every day” speaks to me, as I find growth and creativity quintessential to a meaningful life.
Q: What has your experience been with our company culture?
OM: I’ve formed many great friendships here over the years and am grateful to work alongside such passionate, often hilarious people.
Q: What are some things you’ve noticed about our leadership team?
OM: The leadership team here puts in a sincere effort to make this a comfortable, fun environment to work in. It is evident they genuinely care about the well-being of employees.
Q: What have been your biggest accomplishments on our team?
OM: I’ve worn many hats on the Air Waves team and am proud to have gained a well-rounded understanding of the e-commerce business through years of account management experience. Seeing my ideas come to life and become top-sellers, knowing they’re going into the hands of 1000s of happy customers, is an incredibly satisfying feeling.
Q: Who are some of your biggest inspirations within Air Waves?
OM: All of our coworkers here work hard day to day, working together to grow the company. The way Michele Delligatti started at an entry-level position, working her way diligently all the way up to Vice President of Sales and Merchandising, while still maintaining her humble nature, inspires me deeply!
Q: What’s the most unique part about working here?
OM: Having a creative outlet, getting to see your ideas come to fruition is an amazing part of working here.
Q: How have you grown professionally while on our team?
OM: I’ve certainly worked my way up from a college intern in 2017. I have managed and contributed to the growth of many accounts including wholesale, Amazon, Walmart, Zulily, etc.
Working here has further shown me I am capable of accomplishing anything I set my mind to, allowing me to hone creative, communicative, and managerial skills in a collaborative environment.
Q: What is your number one piece of advice for someone who is just starting in their career?
OM: Never be afraid to ask for help and help those around you however you can. We’re all part of the same team. As they say “teamwork makes the dream work”. Your ideas matter and just might be the next big thing; express yourself openly!
