At Air Waves, we celebrate our employees and the different professional paths they have all taken to arrive at their positions with us. We are honored to have a team that is compiled of such a diverse range of professional experiences to bring to the table for our team and our customers.
We recently spoke with Air Waves team member of ten years, Angelique Spring, to learn more about what it takes to have a successful career at Air Waves. Here is what she had to share…
Could you share more about the various roles you have had the opportunity to fill at Air Waves during your time here?
CSR (Customer Service Representative) – my favorite part of this role was working directly with customers and taking care of their needs with product fulfillment.
Website Content Coordinator – my favorite part of this role was putting together curated collections for our different e-commerce marketplaces.
Senior Merchandising Manager – my favorite part of this role was being more hands-on with the development of designs and working directly with an outside buying team to assist in the execution of sales.
Purchasing and Inventory Analyst – my favorite part of this current role is being more closely involved with operations and working as a team to develop solutions to everyday and more long-term issues.
When reflecting on your experiences with team members and clients, what do you believe are the most important qualities to succeed in your industry?
I would say the first important quality is to be adaptable. Especially when it comes to the e-commerce industry, changes can happen frequently – sometimes even in a matter of a few minutes! Also, the ability to look at the big picture of a project is crucial. You must be able to picture the product for your client from the initial idea to the full product. Keeping an entire operations process in mind while working on one piece will result in more thoughtful actions. Finally, I think progressive thinking, being able to think ahead to where our industry is going and what our clients will need in the future, allows you to adjust your actions to match accordingly.
What are the most valuable lessons you’ve learned at Air Waves?
The first would be regardless of your position, everyone is on the same team working toward the same goals. The second is that all ideas are always worth sharing.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting in their career, what would it be and why?
Never stop asking questions. Sometimes as you are just getting started in your career, you may feel this need to “prove yourself”. If you are at a company that truly cares about team members and their success, they will want you to ask questions about everything to be sure you are on the same page and are clear on the goals of the company and the projects you are working on. You will never reach a point in your career where you should stop asking questions. This is essential to employee and company growth.
When confronted with a challenge at work, what is your process for solving it?
When a challenge arises at work, the first thing I do is figure out what makes it a “challenge” vs. an everyday occurrence. I take that result and come up with a way (sometimes with others) to work this into our business model and what makes the most sense for us.
Is there anything else you would like to share about how to have a successful career at Air Waves or your future career?
Being detail-oriented with actions and direction is crucial in a fast-paced work environment like Air Waves. As we continue to grow and expand under our new parent company, Hybrid, I’m excited to see how I will be able to utilize the skills I have already acquired and the abilities I have yet to learn more about.
